Tobago also boasts a very high standard of accommodation with private villas, hence allowing it to be one of the finest in this area within the Caribbean. Small guesthouses and apartment type accommodation are also available on the island, again these are also of a very high standard.
With the temperature averaging 29 C (82 F), light comfortable wear, such as shorts, wraps and sundresses is a mist for daytime. Evening wear is classy but cool and women are advised to bring along a cocktail dress for that special night.
Tobago enjoys the advantage of being small, with all of its natural attractions easily accessible. The mountains are not high, the forests not too impenetrable and the many coral reefs not too deep or distant. Together with its overwhelming variety of flora and fauna Tobago’s exuberant bird life is probably its greatest source of pride, with Green Parrots, Jacamars, Humming Birds, Cocrico’s, Bananna Quids common amongst hundred of other species. Little Tobago a small island just off Speyside, sits another Sea Bird Sanctuary for bird watchers.
Trinidad, Tobago’s sister island, just off the coast of Venezuela is a rich cosmopolitan marriage between Africa, India, Europe, China,the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Larger than Tobago,Trinidad is one of the Caribbean’s nerve centres for international business and industry. Port-of-Spain, the capital, is an intriguingly diverse place with non-stop activity, be it a party, a street parade, a cricket match, yacht racing, a mountain hike, an exhibition, indigenous theatre, or a classical concert.
A Day Trip to Trinidad, from Tobago is highly recommended and must include a visit to the World Famous Caroni Bird Sanctuary or the ASA Wright Nature Centre.
